"Women are far more superior than men" Most people believe this statement and perceive this as the main notion behind feminism. This is not feminism. For centuries the female gender was acknowledged as subordinate. Feminists have been battling the same.
A significant number of people believe that feminism is not required anymore because women are treated equally. This is ignorance, patriarchy is still heavily prevalent and will be for a long time despite awareness being spread. The population of the world is large and there are far too many people who are headstrong and will never agree to the idea of a man and woman being at the same pedestal.
Feminism is about demanding social and political equality for women, not 'all men are trash' If we as women do the same thing that men have done for years before, how are we better than oppressors? We cannot become what we have sworn to defeat.
Children have been taught to follow gender stereotypes. When a boy hits a girl people behave like the child has committed a heinous crime. At the same time when the girl beats up the boy, it's suddenly acceptable and then instead of the girl the boy is shunned because "ladki se maar khana Sharam ki Baat hai." We grow up accepting the fact that men are more powerful. Men are to live up to the standards of protectors. Men have to earn money. What male gender needs to know is that they have the right to be weak. They can stay at home dads. They are laughed at if their wives earn more than them. None of this should hurt their ego. No man should be given a hard time for being himself. Why is it that when a woman does the same thing that a man does it is treated as an accomplishment? When men do something that a woman does, why does he have to deal with a backlash? Why is he called impuissant? Toxic Masculinity is harmful and can have adverse effects on men.
Women are treated like they are fragile. Like they are delicate crystal vases which break easily and men are supposed to be Nokia phones, which don't break even after falling from the fifth floor. People are a combination of Crystal Vases and Nokia phones, each fragile but also strong in different ways. No two people are the same, but we are all politically equal. People of different Genders need one another to survive.
Respect each one.
Coming back to the topic of feminists. Real feminists strive towards equality between men and women. Anything else is misandry. There are self-proclaimed feminists who have no shame in accepting a seat on the bus that gets vacated by a man because he sees a woman standing. Are you not strong enough to stand? If you say that you are stronger than men why do you feel the need to sit while the man stands? If you think that you are powerful, Don't accept the seat. It's as simple as that. After all of this, the issue is equity is born. Naturally pregnant women are weaker. In such a case you can't bring up the issue of equality. You can't say "Equality wala article padha that. That's why I'm not moving"
Let's not forget that many times, we as feminists (with or) without the intention to can pass controversial statements which may unnecessarily point a finger at those who have not done anything wrong. accept the seat. It's as simple as that. After all of this, the issue is equity is born. Naturally pregnant women are weaker. In such a case you can't bring up the issue of equality. You can't say "Equality wala article padha that. That's why I'm not moving"
We must take time and understand the point of views before screaming 'Ay feminazi activist type bitch'. Understand opinions before you bash them on the basis of your prejudice.
